A National 3G Organization

Developed with the Shoah Foundation

August 7th, 2023

Dear 3GDC community,

It has long been a goal of many 3Gs, myself included, to organize formally into a national organization in order best to represent and advance our mission of Holocaust education and remembrance from a third-generation perspective. With that, I’m proud to share the news of the creation of Living Links, a national umbrella organization for 3G groups focused on empowering and engaging grandchildren of survivors.

Living Links and all its programs will be developed at USC Shoah Foundation - a well-established organization that brings expertise in operations, education, marketing, and fundraising - with the intention of launching Living Links as a fully functioning, sustainable new national organization in approximately three years. Over the last eighteen months, 3GDC has participated along with ten other 3G chapters to shape this new entity to support our mission and community. Each 3G chapter will maintain its autonomy, while Living Links and USC Shoah Foundation will provide mentorship, programming, and resources to help us all grow.

Some of the other benefits we’re excited about:

  • WEDU (We Educate), the 3G speaker training program, will now run through Living Links and USC Shoah Foundation, providing additional support and expertise in training, and overall expansion and upscaling of the speaker training program.

  • Living Links and USC Shoah Foundation have secured the seed funding for three full-time positions, allowing for staff dedicated to managing and growing this new organization.

  • The professional infrastructure of Living Links will support the growth of existing 3G chapters, the establishment of new chapters and ensure the chapters become a vibrant network through excellent programming and communication.

Here in DC, nothing changes, as 3GDC will still provide innovative programs, meaningful remembrance events, educational opportunities around the greater DC area, and will continue to be a strong voice in advocating for our mission in our community.

We can’t wait to see all of the new opportunities this additional support and infrastructure will bring to our 3GDC community and to the 3G community at large. We will continue to share news about this new venture with you as things progress. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or ideas.
