3GDC Joins Letter Seeking Reversal of NEA Boycott of ADL; Offers Trained Speakers for Regional Schools Washington, DC

3GDC, the organization representing grandchildren of Holocaust survivors in the national capital region, joined as a signatory today on a coalition letter to the National Education Association (NEA) demanding a reversal of its preliminary decision to boycott the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), America's oldest and premier organization fighting antisemitism. "At a time of sharply rising antisemitism, including disturbing incidents in our region's public schools," said President A.J. Siegel, "3GDC is deeply disturbed by the NEA's effort to divest from our nation's largest and most respected organization combatting antisemitism. Teachers deserve better than this, and parents deserve to know that their children's schools have resources in place to help students understand how antisemitism can manifest and how to stop it. To that end, 3GDC continues to make available trained speakers who can personalize lessons about the Holocaust in age-appropriate ways, supplementing teachers' efforts. We stand ready to visit any classroom, engage any students, in order to ensure that ignorance is allowed no safe harbor in which antisemitism and other hatreds can fester and grow." 3GDC empowers third-generation survivors in our nation’s capital and the greater Washington region by creating space to share our common experience and elevating the voice of our unique constituency.
