  • Rachel is one of the youngest winemakers in Maryland with over ten years of experience in all aspects of the wine industry. Today, Rachel is the Head Winemaker and General Manager for her family's winery, Loew Vineyards, located in Mt. Airy, Maryland. As a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor and as a fifth generation winemaker, she proudly bears the responsibility to share her grandfather's story of survival and continue her family's legacy of over 150 years of making mead commercially. In October 2023, Rachel was appointed and commissioned by Governor Moore to represent Maryland's Viticultural industry as a member of the Maryland Agricultural Commission. Rachel speaks publicly about her grandfather's story of survival of the Holocaust to thousands of people each year and currently serves as a board member and the education committee chair for 3GDC with hopes to strengthen the 3G community and increase speakership. Through her work, she strives to become one of the most influential winemakers of her generation, to educate others about the Holocaust, and to inspire others to be tenacious in achieving their goals.

  • William was born in Lwow, Poland (known now as Lviv, Ukraine) in 1925 to a large family who owned many honey wineries. He was the sole Holocaust Survivor of the Löw family--he survived the Budapest Political Prison, Auschwitz and Flossenburg Concentration Camp, and a death march.
