  • Brant co-founded 3GDC over 10 years ago, recognizing the need for grandchildren of Holocaust survivors to unite and share their grandparents' stories. Both of Brant's maternal grandparents survived the Holocaust, and their experiences have greatly impacted his life.

Brant grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. In high school, he traveled to Poland and saw the concentration camps where his grandparents were imprisoned, sparking his lifelong commitment to ensuring that nothing like the Holocaust can ever happen again. Brant graduated from Syracuse University, where he received his undergraduate degree, and Georgetown University, where he received his law degree.

Brant currently works for the Civil Rights Division at the United States Department of Justice, where he is a senior appellate attorney. Brant represents the United States in cases involving hate crimes, human trafficking, voting rights, and disability rights. He also serves as Chair of the Federal Interagency Holocaust Remembrance Committee.

  • Brant’s Grandma Hanna was born in Lodz, Poland in 1925. She persevered in the Lodz ghetto and survived three concentration camps: Auschwitz, Bergen Belsen, and Salzwedel. After being liberated, Hanna met Karl—Brant’s grandfather—who was also from Poland and who also survived Auschwitz. They married in Germany and started a family there before immigrating to the United States.
